About the Job

As an Automation Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing automation solutions to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and quality of software development and testing processes. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, defining automation strategies, and leveraging automation tools and frameworks to drive automation excellence.
Candidate must have 10 + years of hands-on experience in Web, Mobile and API automation using tools like Selenium/Cypress or Playwright, Appium and RestAssured with Java.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to automation engineers and testing teams on automation techniques, tools, and practices.
    • Foster a culture of automation excellence and knowledge sharing within the organization.
    • To make sure the automation code done by other team members should not have any merge conflicts, if there is any conflict able to resolve it.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, optimization, and automation enhancement to enhance efficiency.

    Cross-functional Collaboration 

    • Collaborate closely with development teams, product managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment of manual and automated testing activities.
    • Estimate and provide forecast to business about effort to complete testing for each sprint cycle.
    • Keep business up to date with the testing progress of each sprint cycle until release.

    Automation Strategy and Planning:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to define automation strategies, goals, and objectives aligned with business and project requirements.
    • Develop automation roadmaps and implementation plans for achieving automation goals.
    • To perform automation assessment and create an automation roadmap.
    • Work with project teams to prioritize and address high-risk areas.

    Automation Framework Design:

    • Should be able to work as an Individual contributor.
    • Design and architect scalable and maintainable automation frameworks tailored to project needs and technologies.
    • Select appropriate automation tools, libraries, and technologies to support automation initiatives.

    Tool Evaluation and Adoption:

    • Evaluate and recommend automation tools, software, and technologies to improve testing and development efficiency.
    • Lead the adoption and integration of automation tools into existing workflows and processes.

    Test Automation Development:

    • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and suites using scripting languages (e.g. Java, JavaScript, etc.) and automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress).
    • Ensure test scripts are reusable, modular, and maintainable to support continuous testing practices.

    Integration and CI/CD:

    • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless testing and deployment.
    • Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate testing in deployment pipelines and environments.

    Quality Assurance Practices:

    • Define and enforce automation coding standards, best practices, and guidelines.
    • Conduct code reviews, test code coverage analysis, and performance testing to ensure quality and reliability of automation solutions.
    • Define and enforce quality assurance standards and guidelines.

    Other Responsibilities:

     Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.

    Identify and write test scenarios and test cases from user stories and acceptance
     criteria.Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in quality assurance, with a strong background in both manual and automation testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in designing, developing, and executing manual test cases and scenarios to verify software functionality, usability, and performance.
  • Extensive experience in implementing and maintaining automated test suites using industry-standard tools and frameworks, with a focus on enhancing test coverage and efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of test automation principles and best practices, including test script design, data-driven testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Knowledge of web services testing tools, such as Postman or SoapUI, for validating API functionality, performance, and security.
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git, for managing test automation codebase and collaborating with development teams.
